I'm happy to announce that our Acrostics app now includes puzzles from three new authors. We feature puzzles from PennyPress Crostics, Acrostics by Cyn (CynAcrostics, American Acrostics, AnimaAcrostics) and Acrostica, as well as 10 new volumes by Puzzle Baron. The Google Play and Kindle versions are available now, and an iOS update is coming soon.

When we saw the quality of the puzzles by these authors, we knew we had to bring them to you. To be honest, it involved much more work than we originally thought! The size and depth of these puzzles is amazing, and we wanted everyone to enjoy the full experience they offer. After months of testing, and lots of feedback from our tireless beta testers, we're proud of the result. The on screen layouts are crisper, the puzzle play is streamlined, and we went to great efforts to make the best use of screen space for all sized devices.

We hope you enjoy these new puzzles as much as we do. As always, if you have comments or suggestions, please contact us at support@eggheadgames.com. We love to hear from you.

Happy puzzling!  Mike @ Egghead Games

Value is a conscious choice

Crimson Rosella

Crimson Rosella

If we are willing to start paying for the products and services we use, we stop being the commodity ... When users are the driver, companies will focus on adding value, not just grabbing our attention.

This is the Egghead Games philosophy in a snapshot. We don't have ads because we know it will distort how we build our puzzles. We don't "gamify" our apps with alerts popping up asking you to do things or distracting you to "earn" rewards. We build our apps with the classic paper puzzle magazine in mind.

You reach for your puzzles when you're ready to do them, when you're carving out time for them. We provide them in that same spirit. We make the puzzles the highest quality we can muster: both the puzzles themselves, and the apps that contain them.

In return, we ask for the price of a cup of coffee every week or few, depending on how fast you complete them, no pressure. Just like the puzzle magazines that used to be available at the corner store but are now hard to find.

It's all a little contrary to the modern app publishing mantra with its emphasis on freemium or ad supported. We believe there is room in the market for our approach and hope you and your friends believe it too.

Happy puzzling!

(The opening quote is from this thoughtful post.)

Cryptograms update for iOS 9

We feel bad. Somehow during all the iOS 9 hoopla, we missed that Cryptograms was having problems. Sure, it was happily playing along with iOS 5, 6, 7 and 8, but iOS 9 was sitting in the corner, feeling left out. So, this release fixes Cryptograms for iOS 9.

We'd also love to tell you that this update solves world peace, and that it explains why the toast always falls on the floor with the toppings facing down. But we'd be lying if we said that, and lying isn't nice.

All that aside, there are some wonderful, wonderful quotes to be found inside. The same wonderful quotes that have been there for a while, but I bet you don't remember them all. So, erase some quotes, solve them again. Maybe beat the expert time this time. And then put down the glowing screen, go outside and enjoy the day - just like we did after we welcomed iOS 9 back from the corner.
