New: A Step-by-Step Guide to Solving Logic Grid Puzzles

A logic grid puzzle can look daunting the first time you open one. There's a grid of empty squares, a handful of clues, and no obvious place to start. Some clues are plain: "The turtle was white." Others read like riddles: "Of the $6.00 animal and the orange balloon, one was the monkey and the other was the dog."
So we've written a guide: How to Solve Logic Grid Puzzles.
One puzzle, start to finish
The guide takes a single small puzzle, Balloon Animals, and solves it one step at a time. Every step has a picture of the grid showing exactly which squares to mark, drawn the way the grid looks in our apps.
It starts with how the grid works and the two rules behind every puzzle. Then it takes each kind of clue in turn:
- True and false clues
- Either/or clues
- Greater than and less than clues
- Multi-elimination clues
- Finishing the grid, for when you have read every clue and still have empty squares
Who it's for
If you're new to logic puzzles, start at the beginning and read straight through. It takes about ten minutes, and by the end you'll have solved a whole puzzle.
If you already solve them, you can go straight to the clue that's giving you trouble. Each part stands on its own, and the pages are made to read well on a phone.
Try it on a real puzzle
Then put it to use in Logic Grid Puzzles or Hard Logic Puzzles. Like all our apps, they have no ads.
If something in the guide is unclear, or there's a kind of clue you'd like us to cover, let us know.
